Generation Power CT Announces Final Emergency Energy Assistance Cycle of Fiscal Year

Hartford, CT—February 26, 2026—As energy bills continue to strain household budgets across Connecticut, Generation Power CT (GPCT) announced today the launch of the fourth cycle of its Emergency Energy Assistance Program, running March 2-10. This nine-day window represents the final opportunity for the current fiscal year (July 2025-June 2026) for eligible households to receive emergency assistance for electricity, gas, and delivered fuels.

This cycle marks the final round under GPCT’s new four-cycle service model. No additional assistance cycles will be offered during this fiscal year, with the program expected to resume in fall 2026. Eligibility details, documentation requirements, and additional resources are available at gpct.org/gethelp.

GPCT’s Emergency Energy Assistance program provides direct financial support to households with gross incomes earning up to 75% of the State Median Income, prioritizing those facing shut-off or dangerously low fuel supplies.

“This program exists to catch people who might otherwise fall through the cracks of traditional assistance,” says Perkin Simpson, Chief Executive Officer of GPCT. “It started nearly 50 years ago as a community collaboration and remains strong today due to same extraordinary partnerships.”

GPCT has provided more than $1.5 million to over 3,200 Connecticut households since September of 2025, helping residents avoid shutoffs and stay safe in extreme temperatures.

“No one should have to choose between a utility bill and another basic need like food or medicine,” adds Kaleitha Brown, GPCT’s Chief Advancement Officer.  “Legislative leaders, philanthropic partners, generous donors, and other key stakeholders play a role in keeping Connecticut neighbors warm and their lights on.”
