Our Research
At GPCT, we believe the best way to create real change is by working directly with the people affected. That’s why we use a community-based approach to research that puts local voices at the center. By partnering with Connecticut residents, especially those facing energy challenges, we learn from their lived experiences and work together to find practical solutions. Their insights help shape our efforts to make energy more affordable, accessible, and fair for everyone.
Our Core Principles

COLLABORATION
We team up with local residents, groups, and partners to tackle the issues that matter most to our communities.

TRANSPARENCY
We make sure our research is shared clearly and openly with the people and organizations who can help create change.

EQUITY
We center the voices of those often left out, working to break down barriers and create fairer outcomes.

ACTION
We don’t just study problems—we use what we learn to guide our programs and push for real change.

EMPOWERMENT
We lift up community voices and support people in shaping the decisions that affect their lives.
Our Recent Reports
Mapping Household Cost Burdens: A study of energy, transportation, water, and housing affordability in Connecticut.
Understanding the specific challenges our neighbors face is key to helping them in meaningful ways. That’s why we commissioned a study, exploring geographic patterns in spending on energy, housing, transportation, and water.

Too often, research studies with worthy goals fail to translate into action given the disconnect between the researchers and the community most impacted by the issue being studied, people working on the ground to support these communities, and policy makers. Working with [GPCT] connects us with all these groups, and as a result our research is bringing about real change! DR. ANNIE HARPER, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, YALE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
